PROJECT A.C.E

Problem Statement

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Nigeria’s youth unemployment rate stood at 53.4% in 2023, with many disadvantaged young people trapped in poverty, particularly in urban slums like Makoko.

A primary challenge identified by our team is the lack of ambition and purpose among these youths, which makes them vulnerable to crime, endangering lifestyles, and the poverty cycle.

Without intervention, this cycle perpetuates, limiting access to education, economic opportunities, and personal growth.

Our Approach & Solution

Project A.C.E is a comprehensive 3-part initiative designed to bridge this gap by focusing on Access, Community Development, and Education. Through tailored programs, we aim to:

  • Reorient mindsets for positive transformation
  • Equip young people with essential education and career skills.
  • Foster a sense of responsibility and leadership, enabling them to initiate positive changes in their communities.

We do this through a series of targeted interventions designed to tackle each aspect of personal and community development.

“For the past few years that Elevate came into my life, a lot of things have changed positively. I have been able to take part in programs that helped develop my skills, and as someone who is passionate about giving back to the less privileged, I have been able to exercise leadership qualities through what they have taught my colleagues and I in the community.”

“Before I met Elevate I was unable to do things on my own, but after I met Elevate, a lot of things changed about me. I am now able to stand and do things by myself. I am now the President of Makoko Student Association, I own a small game centre in the community, and by the special grace of God, I believe that I will get admission into University very soon”

Update – Joshua has since completed his HND Degree in Accounting.
